Mehdi Lazrak is the Managing Partner of Nickel Capital Partners. Prior to founding Nickel, Mehdi was an Engagement Manager with McKinsey & Company where he has primarily supported investors of all sizes through a variety of strategic decisions. He has performed due diligence on many healthcare and life sciences assets, including CROs, SMOs, clinical trial site networks, providers, distributors, SaaS assets as well as other service-oriented companies. He has also led value-creation efforts for PE-owned portfolio companies and advised investors on the sale of assets. In addition to his work with investors, Mehdi has also coached top executives at Fortune 500 companies through digital transformations, development of five-year strategic roadmaps and complex procurement decisions.

Prior to McKinsey, Mehdi spent 5 years at Expedia, a travel e-commerce company, across various functions such as strategy, CX, product management and operations. In his last role at Expedia, Mehdi led customer operations for Orbitz and Travelocity, two Expedia-owned brands and oversaw a $50M P&L. He implemented process changes and worked in tandem with engineers to build products to reduce costs and improve customer satisfaction.

Mehdi holds a bachelor’s degree from Yale University in Chemical Engineering and Economics, and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, with specializations in Finance and Strategic Management. While in business school, Mehdi was the recipient of the Chicago Booth Alumni Association Scholarship, and a dean’s list nominee.

Mehdi grew up in Casablanca, Morocco and now lives in NYC. As a proud immigrant who moved to the US at age 18, Mehdi has been grateful for the opportunity to build a professional career in this country where hard work is deeply valued. As much as Mehdi values grit and perseverance, he values humility, integrity, and the importance of giving back even more. Mehdi founded Dinners for Humanity, an initiative that pairs Chicago residents with homeless and other people down on their luck for sit-down dinners at local restaurants. Mehdi’s outlook has been shaped by these experiences and he strives to always lead with integrity and empower others to be successful.

Given Mehdi’s deep-rooted passion for entrepreneurship (all members of his family are business owners) and his desire to have a positive impact and create value for all stakeholders, Mehdi is excited to acquire, run a business and preserve your legacy.
